Morcote (TI, Switzerland)
10 kilometers south of Lugano lies the former fishing village of Morcote at the foot of
Monte Arbostora. Only about 3 hours south of Zurich by car, one has the feeling of
having left Switzerland by charter flight and being landed in a tropical place of
paradise.
In this lovely sleepy village, the world turns a little slower and the Italian "dolce vita" flair is included with the ordered espresso.
Lake Lugano is easily accessible for bathers and offers a refreshing cooling in summer time.
Worth seeing is the Parco Scherrer with its palace, which was built on the model of the "Palazzo Salò" in Brugine, near Padua.
In the park there is a riche subtropical vegetation with palms, cedars, cypresses, eucalyptus, magnolias and azaleas etc.
Also worth seeing is the church Santa Maria del Sasso, from where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the neighboring Porto Cresio in Italy.
